HP Prime G2 Graphing Calculator

Excellent product with a steep learning curve.

I ordered an HP-PRIME G2,  having owned (and used every day) the G1, for best part of 7 years. The G2 has a processor upgrade to die for (speed of calculation... which feeds directly into the stunning  graphics). Ordering was straightforward and delivery was prompt (3 days) on cheapest postal option. Pretty good I reckon. Well-packaged. Thumbs-up for my first order from 'Calculators Direct'.

The HP-PRIME needs no boosting from me, Totally magic. A CAS  (Computer Algebra) system that knocks it's competitors (few) into a cocked hat. And really easy to use.

As an aside (but an important one for HP PRIME buyers):

My original PRIME is still running fine on it's original battery. Lucky me. Since Hewlett-Packard are dumping the high-end calculator market, you might like to know that the PRIME battery is nothing more or less than a Samsung Note III camera battery-  EB-L1G6LLU ... easily ordered from Duracell-Direct.

Please beware buying much cheaper 'Samsung' batteries from well-known sellers (you know who I mean) of suspiciously cheap "Samsung" badged knock-offs.They are worse than useless.

So.... my first experience of 'Calculators Direct'.... ?  Simply excellent.

I purchased this product towards my studies for second degree. During my studies for B.Sc. in electrical engineering I used the older version of that calculator , i.e. the HP 48G so once I decided to move forward and study for a second degree I looked for the most updated version of that calculator, which is the HP Prime G2.  I only have the calculator for few weeks now and I am at the preliminary stages of studying and evaluating it so it would obviously take more time to fully utilize its capabilities, but even after few weeks of using it I can already say that it has quite impressive capabilities , it is very intuitive and also very fast, thanks to its significantly large memory and high quality CPU , relative to its competitors from TI and Casio. The ability to connect it to my PC , run an emulation and also download an app of the HP prime on my cell phone is also very helpful and actually "pretty cool" .
Bottom line - So far it looks and feels like a very good choice.

This is the third calculator I've purchased from Calculators Direct - I'm happy with their competitive pricing and attentive service.

As for the product itself, it's the ultimate engineering professional calculator (apart from the HP42s remake of course). Be sure to download the PrimeComm app for moving programs about and a very handy 'offline programming' interface. Apart form the aforementioned it outclasses all other calculators on the market, there's loads of easily accessible programming and learning material for all levels. The battery life on it is a downside but this can be upgraded with a more powerful phone battery - this may void warranty.

I use it for postgraduate study and professionally, even with all the computer programs and processing power a calculator like this is a very uncompromising way to get calculation templates done, no proprietary software or internet required!

Top of the range graphic calculator. Having said that those of a certain age might still prefer the HP48 or 50.
Maybe it's more oriented to the educational market, but I'm happy to find out over the next few months!
