I actually received the EL-531 TL, which has all the same functions and 65 more according to the ads. It's a very powerful calculator, with  hexadecimal and bitwise logical operations which are useful to a software engineer. I like the 4 line screen and calculation editing capabilities.

Since completing my studies, for which I had used a TI-89, I have always liked to have a calculator. But I forgot the 3/4, or even more, possibilities of the TI-89.\nThis Sharp makes for me the essential of my current needs and especially, it is very legible and light (1 battery LR44).\nAs for the price at Calculatorsdirect, it's given! In addition, communication is excellent. What more ?

Bought a class set for use in school. Clear display, functions easy to use. Advantage of this over other Sharp models is that "Writeview" means the kids can put the sums into the calculator the way they look on the page - means that any misconceptions or mistypes are easier to spot/tackle and cause fewer problems.
